Just a note here that if you find something missing here - we're in the middle of transfering all of our files from out last Host to our new host. We were 10 years with the last host, and are hoping that we won't miss trandferring any images or files to the new server.
If you've followed this site and it's mutiple changes - you know that we have a missive collection: so forgive us if we miss something. We'll try to fix the problem areas as we come accross them.

What's 3 stories tall with a base of 20 feet by 20 feet?
This place is actually amazing. It has a Roof-top Patio, over a Three-Story house, on a one-story Garage, on a 20 by 20 lot, 4 blocks from the Beach . . . Overlooking State Street - and it's 1/2 block off of State Street.
The Owners Sue and Neil Alblitt built it as something they could leave to their children. It's actually quite a wonder - such a small place that houses all you really need to live in Santa Barbara.
Now if there was a 2 car garage and 2 apartments there . . . that would really be a feat!
You can learn more about this place at www.jeffsheltonarchitect.com
It will cost you about $2,500.00 a day to put on a show at the new Granada Theater, Monday-Thursday. $3,500.00 Friday-Sunday. That will include the whole Theater . . . or course you'll need to pay extra for Front Lobby Staff (100.00/performance), Plus $2,000,000.00 ( 2 Million ) in Comprehensive Insurance Coverage. $500.00 per performance if you want to use the House Steinway Piano ( oh, and you'll need to pay the going rate for the Piano Tuner ).
You'll also need to pay for Spotlight Operators, Pay a percentage of Merchandise Sales 20%-25%, as of now there is no info on Backstage DSL access, a Box Office Chargeback of .25 cents . . . So lets see - to pull off a concert with the lowest cost for tickets . . . you'll need to charge about $4.75 which brings in $7,362.50 Total - Less the Rental Fee for the Weekend, Insurance and Staff - You should end up at about even! If you sell 1,550 tickets!
So, if you have a $20.00 ticket price . . . You could hypothetically bring in $31,000.00 before Expenses!

According to the Report heard on KTYD 99.9 FM Both Stearns Wharf and the Harbor area were closed tot he Public today due to High Waves, reported as high as 7 Feet. As a public safety caution, people were asked not to enter the water and not Surf because of the high waves for this area.
And according to NOAA.gov website: ... High Surf Advisory Remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday. - It might not look like very high waves in this photo taken about 6:15 this evening, but those waves are breaking at about the end of the Pier where the Ty Warner Sea Center is located. The Wharf is surely taking a pounding tonight!
Well the night arrived and the Red Carpet was laid out! State Street was packed and there were cameras everywhere, including in this one for SBLocal.com. Here's the catch of the Day, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arrival at the BIFF for 2008.
Angelina visited the ringside Crowds and signed some Photos - the crowd was pretty amicable and friendly, no one crossed the barriers and there were no scenes aside from the women calling out "Brad, Brad" while Angelina did an on camera stint or so.
Angelina was dressed in a Black topped ensemble with a colorful Pink, orange colored print Skirt (see the last photo, click on the continuation link below).

The Ubiquitous Craig Smith [Deputy District Attorney, County of Santa Barbara, 1976-1983 : lawschoolhelp.com, Craig Smiths Blog], who has been covering the Film Festival like a wet blanket seems to get around as shown below. With his trusty Apple iPhone at the Ready.
This photo reminded me of Where's Waldo: hence the caption.

Not sure who was being honored this night (Wed. Jan 29) - But I'm sure there'll be information on the other Blogs out there.

Tuesday evening the Festival honored Ryan Gosling with the first Independent Award at the 23rd edition of the Festival, which took place at the Lobero Theatre.
Film crews even from Canada were present as shown in the above picture. For further Film Festival official information head on over to SBIFF.ORG
We locals probably can't wait for Angelina Jolie who will be honored on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the 23rd annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival with the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her critically acclaimed performance in “A Mighty Heart”, (it was announced by SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling). Past recipients include Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger and Helen Mirren for her performance in “The Queen.” - Seems like State Street at the Arlington will be a madhouse that night!
The current 5 inches of rain (and still continuing) has brought greenery to the valley and some amounts of water to Nojoqui Falls. Hopefully we'll have some good photos of the Falls tomorrow is the weather permits trevelling there. Meanwhile here is a photo of the Valley from the Santa Inez Mission....

It was 5 minutes to 7 when a quick earthquake slightly shook some buildings. According to the recent Earthquake site it was a 3.4 - local magnitude, no real big deal. In case you're wondering, yes we do have lots of little Quakes in California, most aren't even noticeable!
Location was about 3 miles SE of SB located in the Ocean SEE it on a Google Map
